Unlock Your Potential with Expert Guidance

Welcome! My name is Mauricio Castro, and I am passionate about helping students build a relationship with music that is both technically sound and deeply personal.

I believe that learning music properly from the start is the key to long-term enjoyment. But "proper" doesn’t have to mean boring. Rhythm lives in all of us naturally; my job is to bridge that natural instinct with the intellectual understanding of how music works. To do this, I start by asking one simple question: What do you love?

By customizing our lessons around your interests, we focus on the essentials—proper technique, developing a beautiful sound, and reading music. But we go further to unlock the creative side of music. We dive into song structure, improvisation, and the "language" of music.

To me, music is a form of communication. When you learn it like a language, you don't just learn to repeat words; you learn to write your own sentences. My role is to guide you so that you don’t just play the right notes—you use them to express who you are.

Transforming lives through rhythm.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where will the lessons take place?

A: For now, I offer two convenient options to fit your schedule and comfort level:

1. In-Home Lessons: I come to you! This is a great choice for busy families or students who prefer to learn in their own space.

2. Studio Lessons in Greenwood: You're also welcome to come to my place in Greenwood, where a dedicated, fully-equipped teaching space awaits you.

Q: Do I need to buy my own drums before starting lessons?

A: Not at all! While we highly encourage having your own instrument at home—since consistent practice is the fastest path to improvement—it is not a requirement to get started. If you choose to take lessons at my studio, all instruments and necessary equipment are provided for you during our sessions. My priority is to remove any barriers to entry, so you can begin your musical journey right away and decide on a home setup when the time feels right for you.

Q: What age groups do you teach?

A: I firmly believe that music has no age limit—the joy of rhythm and expression is universal. That said, I currently welcome students from 5-year-olds to adults. Whether I'm guiding a young child through their very first beat or helping an adult finally cross "learn drums" off their bucket list, my approach adapts to you. Age is just a number; your passion and curiosity are what truly matter.

Q: What are your policies?

A: I have two main policies to keep things fair, professional, and flexible for everyone:

Cancellation Policy: Free rescheduling with 48+ hours' notice. Cancellations with less than 48 hours' notice will not be refunded.

Instructor Rescheduling Policy: I reserve the right to reschedule lessons for professional performance or recording opportunities. I will give you as much advance notice as I can and will provide a suitable make-up session at your convenience.
